ABOUT ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture involves the insertion of almost hair-thin needles into specific points on the body’s surface.  Needles are sterile and single use only.  Unlike hypodermic needles, acupuncture needles are solid.  Acupuncture typically doesn’t hurt.  You may, however, experience a variety of sensations with acupuncture.  These sensations can include: tingling, warmth, a mild pressure and a feeling like water flowing through you.  Many people feel nothing.  Most people find the experience very relaxing with lasting effects.

The exact mode of action for acupuncture is unclear from Western medicine standards. Much research has been done in the field to discover how placing needles in different locations can have results elsewhere in the body. Current theories include a connection with the nervous system, immune system, endorphins, and neurotransmitters, to name a few. Whatever the cause, acupuncture treats a variety of different ailments while encouraging a feeling of overall well-being.

Common conditions acupuncture can treat include:

  • Eye, Ear, Nose, Throat Disorders

  • Circulatory Disorders

  • Gastrointestinal Disorders

  • Gynecological/ Fertility Disorders

  • Hormonal Imbalance

  • Immune Disorders

  • Addictions

  • Emotional and Psychological Disorders/Stress

  • Musculoskeletal and Neurological Disorders
