It took me a while to decide that Chinese Medicine is what I wanted to do with my life. I’ve always followed a healthy diet and exercise routine, but by no means thought I was destined for a medical profession. I completed my undergraduate degree studying Public Relations and Communications at Central Michigan University. I graduated, started looking for a job, and realized that Corporate America wasn’t in the cards for me. I needed to find a career that made a difference in people’s lives. By a series of coincidences and fateful happenings, I stumbled upon Chinese Medicine and instantly fell in love. After a little research, I applied to school, got accepted, and began the lengthy and transformative process known as Chinese Medicine School.
After 4 long years, I graduated and now get to do what I love—helping people’s bodies heal themselves using lifestyle education, acupuncture, and herbal medicine. After the traditional schooling, I traveled to Nanjing, China to study herbal medicine at different hospitals throughout the city. Since the medicine originates in China, this is where the most advanced research takes place. I learned many strategies and modalities for treatment that this program really increased my herbal knowledge and strategies for treatment.
While I don’t have a specialty per se, I treat everything from elbow pain to endometriosis, I do have some areas of interest. While at OCOM, I was a part of a research project comparing the efficacy of Chinese herbs and Acupuncture with live birth rates in women undergoing In Vitro Fertilization. This led me to discover that Chinese medicine works magically to treat infertility and has led to lengthy research into the subject. I’m also very interested in treating emotion issues, women’s health, autoimmune disorders, and pain. If you have any questions how Chinese Medicine can change your life, feel free to contact me. My goal in my practice, and my life as a whole, is to help people live the best life possible.
I live in Northwest Portland with my partner and two dogs, Tito and Lola. Some of my interests include Yoga, reading, and travel.
